and lots of parents, sweethearts, and friends giving out candy, it is good to be up on what candy is deemed okay and not okay for celiac folks. I ran across this great website, Celiac Family a new blog I will be browsing and reading, and even linking, for great information.
I feel that is is vital to any sufferer of dietary restrictions to have information at their fingertips and don't mind passing along that information and giving credit where credit is due. So thank you, Heather, for taking the time to compile this list.
If you want to check out her specific post regarding what candy is okay or not for Celiac folks, please click here ----> okay or not candy
and for those that suffer FM, the list is, unfortunately, not that long. Sweethearts are okay though.

Hey! I'm not sure if you're in the US or not but Smarties are a candy that we can eat with excess fructose, not fructans, to improve absorbtion. I'll have to look into Sweetarts, when I get home from work. Does your daughter have Fructose Intolerance or Fructose Malabsorption? They are very different in their causes and effects on the body. Thanks for checking out my blog! -Joyce
Hi! From everything I have read, fructose malabsorption is now what was once termed as fructose intolerance, unless you are talking about the hereditary form. So, in reference to that - she does not have the hereditary form (thank goodness) and deals with the Fructmal side of things. If I am wrong - please let me know - because with this diet - it seems the norm to have so much contradicting information :)
Ingredients for Sweettarts are:
Dextrose, Corn Syrup, Hydrogenated Coconut Oil, Malic Acid, Maltodextrin, and Less than 2% of Calcium Stearate, Egg Albumen, Artificial Flavors, Mono- and Diglycerides, Blue 1 Lake, Blue 2 Lake, Red 40 Lake, Yellow 5 Lake.
See what happens when I take the word of the dietician.
Adding that when she took the hydrogen breath test - her levels were high high high. She was diagnosed as fructose intolerant - but not hereditary. I converted that to FM because of everything I read :0)
